When pregnant, many women have to take prenatal vitamins to help with a healthy and successful pregnancy. But, there are so many different effects that can occur from the use of these specific nutrients. One of the most common results is the extended and hardened growth of nails while another is how prenatal vitamins for hair growth have been utilized by many women.
Some believe it is the additional hormones that are produced during pregnancy while others know it is derived from the vitamins. However, there have been numerous studies that have shown how prenatal vitamins for hair growth have become quite effective. The fact is that your hair will grow faster while being pregnant.
The increased estrogen is known to make the nails and hair grow faster and stronger. This is typically due to pregnancy forcing the hair to skip the shedding phase and permanently stay in the growth phase, and this is based on the structure of normal hair growth.
Unfortunately, the result later on is a massive amount of shedding due to the decrease of hormones after having the baby. There are certain vitamins that can be taken afterwards to help maintain the hair growth and preventing balding. But, the nutrients found in prenatal vitamins actually increase the estrogen being produced and results in maximum hair growth.
A major ingredient found in prenatal nutrients is Vitamin H, which is also known to increase hair growth in many tests. This particular ingredient is found in many hair growth products and becomes the common denominator in the equation for longer locks.

But now the question arises as to whether the same effect would apply for those that are not pregnant and still decide to take prenatal vitamins for hair growth. Because the main ingredient is supposed to increase the natural production of estrogen, there aren’t any studies that prove a positive correlation between these vitamins and hair growth.
Nonetheless, it is the combination of being pregnant and taking the prenatal nutrients that is actually contributing to the faster growth. This applies to the finger nails and toenails as well. Because of the combination, it has resulted in the rise of arguments regarding the lack of influence that prenatal vitamins has on faster hair growth.
The unique part of the argument is the overall opinion from pregnant women that have experienced the positive results. Many doctors believe that it is the high dosage of Vitamin H and folic acids that can be found in prenatal vitamins. There have been studies to show the positive influence that folic acids have in hair growth, but do not provide a direct link to prenatal vitamins.
Other than the personal stories of women and their experiences, prenatal vitamins for hair growth have not been accepted in the medical world. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t true especially when positive reviews are being posted and discussed everyday.
Whether you believe that it is due to the increase in estrogen level in the body, the folic acids in prenatal vitamins, or the combination of both, it is a proven fact that pregnant women tend to grow faster and stronger hair. Since pregnancy tends to drain the vitamins out of a woman’s body for the baby’s growth, it makes sense as to why these prenatal nutrients are utilized. Regardless of the reason, many people hold a high regard with prenatal vitamins for hair growth. Based on your personal experience, do you agree?
